HARRAN · ŞANLIURFA
In a traditional beehive house beside the Temple of Sin and Harran Castle, hear thousands of years of Mesopotamian stories from a storyteller born in Harran. Beehive house visits, guided tours and group programmes.
HARRAN PRENSİ
Born in Harran, he is a storyteller who has devoted his life to the healing plants of Mesopotamia and the stories of traditional Deq tattoos. Today he opens the doors of the beehive house he once lived in to visitors: every day he welcomes hundreds of guests and tour groups, organises tours in the area and works as a guide.
“We keep our culture alive, and we keep telling its story.”
OUR HOUSE
Harran’s conical mud-brick domed houses are the most familiar silhouette of this plain. Their tall domes keep the rooms cool in summer and mild in winter, and the rooms gathered around a courtyard hold a family, a whole life.
As we show you around, we explain how this architecture is lived in and what its objects, doors and colours mean.
